Douglas Mayo is the chief advancement officer for the Colorado School of Mines Foundation. In his current role, Mr. Mayo oversees and leads all fundraising operations for the Foundation to make the vision and mission a reality. He also works in partnership with the Foundation board and leadership team, as well as the University’s president and executive team to create the organization’s strategies and goals. Additionally, he works with Mines faculty and the alumni association.

Doug came to Mines in April 2015, having served previously in advancement leadership positions at North Dakota State University and Minnesota State University. During his time in both of those positions, campus teams surpassed significant historical milestones in funds raised for campus projects and process improvements to meet or exceed industry best standards. Also, under his leadership, attendance at alumni/stakeholder events increased significantly and marketing communication teams earned national recognition.

Previously, he was a development professional at Colorado State University and Purdue University, where he also served as legal counsel and corporate/foundation relations liaison. He has also been vice president of an industrial plating company and president of a metal finishing trade organization, a practicing attorney in North Carolina, and a cattle rancher. He draws on all these experiences to support further success at Mines.
